There's recently been a lot of noise concerning the new terminology used by dA (Subscriptions = Premium Member, etc), and a lot of anger has come out of it.

No offense to those who have their righteous wraths, but how much of a big deal is it really? I'm probably speaking as a small fish on the other side of the pond, but is all the hype really necessary?

For instance, no one on dA is going to suspect you of begging for donations when you "Needs Premium Membership" since the change goes across the board. We could probably give the admins a break too about the anonymity of donations bit. Everything goes through a trial phase and it probably didn't occur to them the bad part of the deal. At least they will be changing it in the near future. If they had chosen to ignore the generous but irritated, it would have been a complaint matter and I would have nothing else to say about it.

I'm not saying there's a wrong and a right. There are a lot of people on dA and that amounts to quite a substantial load of opinions. On the most part, I don't even look at my profile page much so I didn't notice the changes until a lot of people started journals about it. JUST IGNORE IT.

DA isn't pushing membership in your face unless they actually ask for subscriptions to use it at all. I've only been here two years, but I'll have to say that they've done more good than bad. Self promotion (for dA) isn't so much a bad thing. And with unsubscribed members outnumbering premium members by a fair bit, I'm sure dA's trying it's best not to have us all have to sign up for one form or another.

Lighten up a little. You still have CHOICE.

Ps. I'm not subscribed and see suggestive violet premium bands a lot in my dA excursions, but it doesn't bother me at all because I'm here more for the art than for dA's policies. If it takes a few seconds longer to look at 120 images rather than 60 per page, so be it.
